Xiaomi Mi 7 specs leak, to come with 8GB RAM

Xiaomi said back in December that the Mi 7 will arrive at MWC 2018 with a Snapdragon 845, but according to some rumors, the company is postponing the announcement and bringing the Mi Mix 2s instead.

Still, a leaked screenshot of the Mi 7, said to debut in April, suggests 8 GB RAM and 4,480 mAh battery, a massive upgrade over the Mi 6’s 4/6 GB RAM and 3,350 mAh power cell.

Other specs reveal the already known Snapdragon 845, a dual camera setup (16 MP + 16 MP) and 5.6” tall screen with FullHD+ resolution. The storage is listed as 128 GB.

The screenshot says that the user interface version is MIUI 8.1.30x, which means the build is from January 30, 2018, not an old UI version. The company already updated 40 devices, including some 5-year old Mi phonesto MIUI 9, so it’s impossible the Mi 7 will run anything but that.

Xiaomi, Sony and 16 more OEMs to deliver 5G smartphones in 2019

Qualcomm has hit the gas pedal on the 5G connectivity with its latest announcements. The company will provide Snapdragon X50 modems that support the new standard to 18 OEMs, including smartphone manufacturers Asus, Fujitsu, HMD Global, HTC, LG, Oppo, Sharp, Sony, vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE.

The manufacturers are planning to commercialize 5G mobile devices by 2019. While Samsung struck a separate extended partnership last week, the one big company that is missing from the list is Apple.

Xiaomi, Sony and 16 more to announce 5G smartphones in 2019

In a separate press release, the San Diego company also said that carriers such as AT&T, China Mobile, Orange, SK Telecom, Verizon, and Vodafone would conduct trials for the 5G NR standard to optimize their networks.

To demonstrate its progress on the matter, Qualcomm will have a planned demonstration at MWC 2018 where the Snapdragon X50 5G modem will achieve download speeds of “several gigabits per second”.

Live trials of the 5G NR standard with leading operators should begin late 2018 so manufacturers could announce their ultra-fast smartphones and headsets next year. According to Qualcomm, 5G could bring enhanced mobile broadband to Always Connected PCs, VR and AR headsets.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 leaks with 18:9 display, dual cameras, and huge battery

Last month, we covered the possibility of a new Redmi Note 5 smartphone for global markets. Two Xiaomi devices have passed through China’s 3C earlier last month, which we suspected were two versions of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (one with less RAM, Storage, and a slower CPU). Fast-forward to now, some alleged renders of the phone have leaked.

The renders show a device with very thin top and bottom bezels, akin to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S9. There is also a vertically-placed dual-camera setup above a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. We’ve seen mockups of this device from before, and these renders look similar but much more like a final product.

There is always a possibility that leaked renders are not the real thing or may not be accurate to the final product, so think of them as very detailed mockups for now.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is expected to feature an aluminum body and a 5.99-inch 18:9 IPS LCD display with FHD+ (1080 x 2160 px) resolution. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 636 CPU, an upgrade from the Snapdragon 625 that powered the Redmi Note 4, and 3 or 4GB of RAM. The dual camera setup is slated to be comprised of a 16MP sensor + a 5MP depth sensor.

There’s also a large 4,100 mAh battery and 64GB of internal storage with support for Quick Charge 4.0. The phone will carry a cost of CNY 1499 (around $237) and will supposedly arrive in three colors: gray black and blue.

We might be seeing these phones make a splash at the MWC later this month. It is possible that Xiaomi announce these at MWC since there isn’t going to be a major Mi 7 announcement.

Xiaomi Mi 6X allegedly leaks in hands-on photos

Xiaomi is apparently working on a successor to last year’s Mi 5X, which will unsurprisingly be called Mi 6X. This model is allegedly pictured in the hands-on images you can see below, which come from two different sources. Although overall the design seems similar between the gold and black units depicted, don’t take any of this for granted just yet.

The Mi 6X is going with an iPhone X lookalike vertical dual rear camera arrangement, whereas its predecessor ’emulated’ the design of the iPhone 7 Plus in this regard. The phone obviously sports an 18:9 touchscreen, possibly a 5.99″ panel.

Xiaomi might actually unveil (or at least showcase) this handset at MWC next month, and it may be powered by the company’s own Surge S2 chipset. This will have an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at up to 2.2 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores at up to 1.8 GHz. The GPU employed is the Mali-G71 MP8.

Interestingly, the Mi 5X was also launched as the Mi A1 in some markets (part of the Android One program). It’s unclear if the Mi 6X will have the same fate and turn into a Mi A2 outside of China.

Xiaomi Mi A1 available for $225 in US

The Xiaomi Mi A1 may not be officially available in the US, but those interested can still purchase the Android One smartphone at a decent rate thanks to an eBay retailer who is offering the device for $225.

In other regions – especially Asia and Europe – where the handset is officially available, its price ranges from $245 to $365. So $225 for the same phone does seem to be a good deal.

The seller is Top Rated Plus, and currently only the gold color option is available – rest all are out of stock. For more information on the deal, head to the Source link below.
